What High Performance PRO Athletes & Coaches say about Working with Troy & Sarah

Sam Kick Prep.jpg
Troy and Sarah have been instrumental in getting me back to my best since the extended break from rugby in 2020. Sarah’s knowledge around health and wellness helped me with my diet, and preparation for a short and intense pre season, and her expertise around rehab and injury management, helped me deal with minor injuries and set backs during the pandemic. Troy’s experience as an International Rugby player has given me a sounding board for all things physical and mental preparation. Having someone to talk to about my own game and struggles has allowed me to re-focus and put the best version of myself on the field each week

Working with Troy and Sarah has been extremely beneficial for me on and off the field. I went in with the initial goals of being a better person and trying to help better others around me. I also wanted to improve my work/life balance & Rugby. They have both been amazing with their support and advice on a weekly basis. Troy has helped me out a lot on the mental side of things with work and rugby and how to transition between the both - always asking the “how” and “why” questions which get you thinking why are you doing this and how are you planning on achieving it. Sarah has shared her knowledge on Nutrition & Health with me which has caused me to be a lot more mindful and prepared when it comes to training, games and everyday life. I would recommend both to any rugby player or athlete! I look forward to working with the Hall’s and becoming a more well rounded person and athlete. Thanks!

“I’ve worked with Troy and Sarah for about 4 months now and it has been great. Throughout my rugby career I’ve worked with strength coaches and technique coaches, but no one has ever taken such a holistic approach and focused on the whole person the way Troy and Sarah do. Personally, I began working with them after I broke my ankle and got surgery, and I would not have been able to come back and find success without their help. Sarah helped me with rehab and correcting my sleep and nutrition to fuel my recovery properly, and Troy helped me a lot with finding ways to still practice what I could and improve my skills, fitness and rugby IQ as well as make a return to play plan once I was cleared. Through this process, the thing that has set it apart is the relationship they built with me and their athletes. Whether it be the weekly progress zoom calls, or just checking in with me to see how things are going a few times a week, or always being available to answer whatever questions I have, they truly care about not only the success their athletes have on the field, but also their overall wellbeing. I was able to come back about 6 weeks early from my injury and have the best season of my college career and that would not have been possible without all their support and coaching.”

My experience with the Halls was a bet on myself. I knew that there were components of my life that I was not taking enough responsibility for controlling. I knew that my exercise, diet, and sleep habits were not aiding in managing the stresses of life that I was already feeling. I bet that if I tried my hardest for a couple months to listen and learn from friends and mentors that I knew had a better grip on how to live a healthy lifestyle, I would come out on the other end with a better grip on how to handle the reality of living a stress-filled college lifestyle. Doing better is infectious. Once changes to one area of your life, you notice the rippling butterfly effect that it triggers in the other aspects of your health.

By the end of the experience, I noticed notable changes in the whole way that I interacted with the world. Confidence went up and with it came a desire to improve in other habitual areas of life. My whole mindset was shifting from “what if I did this” to “how can I make this happen”. The difference may seem small, but the shift in mindset has led to important growth. As I have found to be true in my experience with Troy and Sarah, it is the small changes that we have consistency in over long periods of time that constitute sustainable change.

The physical result of the two months I spent with Troy and Sarah was a loss of 2 belt sizes and 10 lbs. All it took was manageable changes in my diet and focusing on a workout schedule that worked for me. I had commitment to make a change going in, but the support and constant accountability that was made available to me made all the difference. I cannot say enough how thankful I am to have both Troy and Sarah in my corner and always encouraging me to set the bar a little higher.

I have been utilizing the tools and workshops Sarah and Troy have put together in their “The Full Package Rugby Athlete”, I wouldn’t be as prepared for the Touch World Cup without them. From the mental strength and pathways I’ve been able to build for myself, to the guidelines and tips provided along nutrition. They make a great point and effort to individualize their consulting to your needs, understanding the same thing doesn’t work for everyone. They take the time to understand your needs and help guide you to what works best for you!

I look forward to starting in on their 1:1 consulting program when I return from tour to stay motivated and engaged on the next target.

Working with Troy and Sarah Hall has been an important part of my life, I’ve known Troy as his All Star coach when he first arrived in NY thru his national championships with NYAC, to his USA international career. I worked with Sarah in physical after a debilitating neck injury left me with severe nerve damage and almost no use in my hands. I continue to seek their help as coach of Iona College and as asst coach in Rugby United NY.

Troy and Sarah are professionals of the highest order. They help simplify the triumvirate of performance that each athlete must balance, the physical, nutritional, and psychological.

Whether you are an aspiring player who wishes to build a foundation of performance, an established professional who’s trying to improve and gain an edge, or a retiring player who’s looking to transition from playing to just a regular life, the Hall Wellness & Sports Consultants have expertise to help you achieve your goals.

As coaches, having a group plan for your players, especially your most dedicated players can give your players the ability to learn how to best operate without you needing to babysit them, which in my experience allows them to thrive and become self directed leaders making the team more powerful, cohesive, and together.

I’ve known the Hall family for many years their successes confirm their professional capability, I can attest personally that their character is of the highest order. I recommend Troy and Sarah Hall to anyone seeking to better themselves, their children, or their team in sports and wellness.

‘The Consultant program led by Troy and Sarah is a unique experience that offers knowledge that should be learned in the American public school system, but simply is not. A wide range of topics are discussed. Like nutrition, workout routines, and mindset skills & tools to keep one focused, motivated, and happy.

’These things are I learned are valuable tools that a collegiate athlete - or really any person - should have in their toolbox to reach their maximum potential. The things I learn and discuss with Troy and Sarah are concepts that I plan to keep around my entire life.regret not learning these things earlier’.

“I had the pleasure of playing under Troy in the summer with PR7s, but I’ve been in contact with Troy for a while. We’ve been in touch since the Colorado XOs played a friendly against Clemson University, which Troy coached. We stayed in touch because I was impressed with the Clemson boys, and of course Troy was a big part of that. He’s always offered insight, support and much more to help me develop. PR7s was when I actually got to play under Troy, but the preparation started before our time in Austin. Troy did a good job of keeping in contact with the Team, and making sure we were getting the mahi done before we showed up in Austin. We had constant check ins and a few updates before we had met up in Austin, and nothing changed once we got to Austin. The way he treated us and how he handled practices, meetings, socials was second to none. My overall experience with PR7s was great, but Troy had a big part of it. The teachings and feedback haven’t stopped since then either, he’s been a great mentor/supporter to have ever since I’ve met him.”
— Line Latu, USA Eagle & Professional Rugby Player
Being a part of the Texas Team during the 2023 PR7s season was a hell of an experience. Troy was a breath of fresh air with his approach to coaching a group of lads in a small space of time.

Leading up to each tournament he was in constant communication about how we were going to attack the tournament week. His ability to give positive feedback meant I always knew how to plan my week and continue developing.

The man knows his stuff - the way he goes about skill development, and building rugby knowledge means he can help any athlete at any level - I’d recommend him to anyone serious about building their game
— Rhodes Featherstone, All Blacks 7s & Captain of Texas Team (PR7s)
“My name is Ben Salem. I first met Coach Troy last year during the premier rugby 7s tournament. I can tell for sure that he’s one of the few people that have impacted my life in a positive way.

Working with someone who sees the good in you and believes in you is such a motivating force to keep you going. It has been a wonderful experience being associated with Coach Troy and I can never be grateful enough.”
— Ben Salem, Kenya International & PR7s Athlete
I loved my time playing with the Texas Team in PR7s and having Troy as a Coach. We began prepping before we got to any of the 3 tournament locations, we’d go over our structure as a team over zoom and constantly over WhatsApp we would stay in touch and ask any questions and or just have a yarn.

Troy is a great guy and does a great job of empowering his players and being a friend but also a great Coach with humility. Everyone felt like they had a role to play in our team and on game day and that was largely due to how Troy interacted and spoke to us all. It made our team culture what it was, special. Which, was unreal especially considering how little time we spent together in person, only about 2 weeks in total.

He knows all about the rugby specifics, skill development, performance training and how to make it all enjoyable while still maximizing his players, I’d be keen as to play for him again. I’d honestly recommend him to anyone looking to take their game to the next level.
— Oliver McKenzie, Professional Rugby Player
“I had the pleasure of working with Troy over the summer of 2023 during the PR Sevens where he was the head coach of Texas Team! One of the highlights from the whole experience for me was that he would emphasize to play to your strengths! I was used to playing to a system and getting the reminder to play to your strengths made me enjoy the rugby a lot more and gave me more confidence! I never felt any pressure and I had the feeling that I was getting backed by him as a coach!

Troy has a way of making a group a team! We came together as a group that didn’t know each other but we became a team real quick! Due to the mini games after practice and having rewards like “work horse of the day” I think helped to forming the team cohesion.

I highly recommend any athlete that wants to become a better athlete/rugby player to work with Troy! He is a very calm and controlled coach, very knowledgeable, humble and just a good guy! Most importantly for me he also cares about what is going on outside of sport for you and I think this is a very good quality for a coach!”
— Timon Vijn, PR7s Athlete
“Troy possesses a deep understanding of what it takes for peak player performance. Having witnessed his coaching first hand it’s clear that players thrive under his guidance. His coaching style emphasizes strong player connections within the team, complimented by an extensive rugby knowledge.”.

“I have coached Troy Hall on multiple occasions, as a National Champion winner at the New York Athletic Club as well as on the United States National Rugby Team. Getting to know Troy and having the opportunity to coach him was a tremendous privilege for me. He was truly a gifted player on the field; a player possessed of multiple talents and the unique ability to carry a team on his shoulders with electric pace and an extraordinary skill set. However, it was it was away from the matches that set Troy apart and prepared him to be a multi-faceted weapon and champion in the heat of battle. Great teams and national squads always have a great amount of talent at any given time; however, it is the character of a man that sets apart the truly great competitors. Troy Hall is one of those elite players, but he is also a man of superior integrity as well. He defines what an athlete should aspire to be - hard working, humble, successful and respected. Troy worked hard to ensure his success through a committed program of strength and conditioning as well as diet and skill enhancement. He was always prepared to play on game day - and succeed. His demeanor is that of a gentleman - soft spoken and liked and respected by all of his teammates and coaches. Troy saved his biggest statements for the field and accepted the accolades with humility. It has been no accident that he has accomplished what he did throughout his life, and continues to give back and inspire.”
— Mike Tolkin, General Manager PR7s and Former USA National Team Head Coach
I guess I just graduated college and I’d be wrong to not send a text to someone like you who had such a positive impact on my entire college experience. Freshman year when we met I would have never guessed this is what I’d be doing but that seems to be what everyone says about life. You were integral to me becoming the person I am right now. An excellent example in so many different ways of how to have a positive impact on everyone you meet. Men like you don’t always get the credit they deserve but I think it’s because men like you don’t care for credit. “As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.” Proverbs 27:17 you sharpened me much more than I’m sure I did you but who’s counting. I’ll do my best to return the favor to the next generation. I hope nothing but the best for you coach.
